Pasteis De Belem
Pastel de nata. The Pastéis de nata or Pastéis de Belém (literally: pasties from Belém / pasties from cream) are one of the most famous sweets in Portuguese cuisine. They are available in many cafes and pastry shops in Portugal, but the original recipe is a secret.
This recipe approximates the original recipe!
Ingredients for Pastéis de Belém:
2 sheets of puff pastry
1 vanilla pod
1¼ cup - 250 ml cream
4 egg yolks
4 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp flour
Ingredients for Pastéis de Belem:
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
Boil the cream with the sugar, yolks, flour and vanilla until the sugar has melted.
Roll up the sheet of puff pastry. Cut into 1 cm slices. Roll flat and place in the baking tin.
Fill up with the pudding.
Bake in the oven at 250 degrees for ten minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool.
